Steve worked in the ATO for more than 30 years, as a director undertaking a number of technical and managerial roles. In the ATO, Steve has dealt with taxpayers including individuals and representatives from large companies explaining the Commissioner’s view on various tax issues, and on occasion negotiating suitable outcomes.
He also provided legal advice for the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) when necessary.
Steve has had a diverse range of experience in the Large Business and International area, providing advice to companies planning complex transactions, and drafting and authorising ATO rulings under the binding rulings provisions, particularly in respect of the Taxation of Financial Arrangements (TOFA) legislation and Jurisdictional Asymmetric Funding Transactions (JAFT).

Matthieu has completed a Master of International Business degree specialising in finance where he has received an Award of Academic Excellence. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
